Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?
When you join, you will be taught from the very basics as most people who join have not done art since school.
If you have previous experience, then you can slot in with the more advanced members to suit your own level.

Some of our members working in the art class. The art classes are very diverse, catering for absolute beginners and those who have been painting for many years.

I haven’t done art since leaving school
It doesn’t matter. You learn art the same way as most things in life. Things such as driving a car, playing a sport or cooking. We learn best by doing it. Many would-be artists are put off by the myth that you have to be born with a natural talent for doing art. Not true!
But I can’t draw
That’s why you need to join an art class! My art classes are structured to teach you from the very basics, starting with the drawing process. You will be taught how to measure correctly to achieve accurate proportion when drawing. This is the first problem many people encounter when trying at home, or on joining a class which offers no tuition.
How much does it cost?
You enrol for 10 consecutive weeks. At the end of the 10 consecutive weeks, you can enrol for further weeks and we go through the year, with a break through August, commencing again in September. The current cost of 10 weeks is £130, payable at the first class.
Can I come to a class to find out more?
Yes, I strongly suggest you come to any of the classes to find out more, talk to current members and get a feel for the class. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with us. Remember, virtually all the members started as absolute beginners.
if I join then change my mind, can I have a refund?
No. As you can appreciate I take new members on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Keeping a place for you, means I cannot give your place if you leave.
What if I miss a week?
Missing weeks can be made up by either coming to another weekly class, held at a different time or venue (so you might do two classes per week to make up your missing weeks). Or, you can make up any missing weeks on the all day Saturday class, held once a month.
Unfortunately, you cannot tag any missing weeks onto the end of the ten-week block.
I think I’d look silly trying to do art!
Nonsense! By finding out about art classes means you want to do it and that’s all you need to have, the desire to want to do it, when joining my art class. The class is structured to teach you from the very basics. We start with the drawing process and progress from there.
